Since 2016, 468 employees have been investigated – DoF

The Finance Department (DOF) said FHas filed complaints and conducted lifestyle tests against 468 members of STAFIn the past Stayve and a half years.

In a statement Tuesday, the DOF said there had been 58 cases StayHas led in front of various quasi-judicial bodies, including OffStayCE of the Ombudsman and the Civil Service Commission following investigations conducted by the Department’s Revenue Integrity Protection Service (RIPS) between July 2016 and December 2021.

The staff involved were DoF, Bureau of Customs (BoC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), Bureau of Treasury (BTr), and Ray Gilbert, Executive Director of Insurance Commission (IC), RIPS. J. Espinosa said in a report to Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III.

About 55% of the employees investigated are from Customs and 38% from BIR.

At the end of March 2022, BoC issued 32 causal orders against staff members, while the BoC’s Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service conducted 250 investigations. This resulted in relief of 85 employees, nine transfers, two suspensions and one reprimand.

Between July 2016 and February 2022, 16 people were fired, 10 were convicted on criminal charges, 35 were fired, 9 were reprimanded and 7 were fined, Mr Espinosa said in his report. – Tobias Jared Thomas
