Jewelry brand Cartier – according to King Edward VII of the “King of Jewelers and Jewelers of Kings” who gave jewelry to his wife, Alexandra of Denmark and many other favorite women – Geneva’s Watches and Wonders 2022 had no recession, showing how they Publicly) has recreated useful watches into smooth status symbols. We start with a large balloon Blue de Cartier, another watch favored by the royalty (the Duchess of Cambridge has been seen wearing one and often) in the rose gold version. It is surrounded by 21 bright-cut diamonds, with a sapphire cabochon at the crown. Mechanical movement has automatic winding and has a thickness of 9.96 mm, with a diameter of about 33 mm.
Meanwhile, newer versions of the stylish Panthère de Cartier (first introduced in 1983) include rose gold, yellow gold and steel; Golden plum, with midnight blue and black dial. The Santos de Cartier, once made for pilots, features a new masculinity with blue on its bracelet and bezel, which perfectly reflects the blue numbers inside.
Finally, arguably the company’s most famous watch, the Tank (named after the trampling on the tank during World War I; and worn by icons such as Jackie O and Diana, Princess of Wales), shows its talons with a red and gray version. The classic hour marks from one to 12 have been reduced to four.
At first glance it looks monotonous, the tank Louis Cartier’s watch, depending on the light, and the way you see it, reveals different looks depending on how the light hits it. To achieve this effect, Cartier watchmakers have used – for the first time in Cartier – an innovative electrochemical engraving technique that allows for very high-precision markings. These almost invisible symbols, performed from different directions, form a group of sections and regions that recreate the graphic pattern featured on the dial of a Cartier Must Watch from the 1980s. The techniques used for painting are different: varnish for red dial and a galvanized finish for gray dial. The dials are then enhanced with a glossy, multi-layered decal that pronounces Roman numerals.
Another makeover shows the tank mast (a variation of the tank), in plain black, in contrast to its bright red sister.
